History of the Alliance

In 2008 and 2009, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo convened over 150 organizations and more than 300 members of the general public in three region-wide Environmental Congresses to create Our Shared Agenda for Action (the Agenda), a blueprint for action on regional environmental issues.  Out of that process the WNY Environmental Alliance (the Alliance) was born.

The Agenda

Our Shared Agenda for Action is a blueprint for action to make our region a greener and more sustainable place to live, work and play.

With Our Shared Agenda for Action we have a vision for our future.

The Agenda has three main objectives:

  1. Preserve and restore our regional environment through collaborative projects;
  2. Mobilize people and policymakers to improve the environment;
  3. Strengthen Western New York environmental organizations.

Get Involved

We hope you will join the effort to protect and restore our regional environment by joining and supporting the work of the Alliance.

To get involved, have your organization or group apply to become an Alliance member and come to a Working Group meeting.  Government agencies, businesses, academic departments and individuals can complete the Alliance application form to sign-on as an affiliate or supporter, and participate in Working Group meetings.

By each doing our part and by working together, we can create a sustainable, thriving community where all can live healthfully.
