What is your favorite outdoor activity? Whether it is kayaking, bird watching or attending a farmers market, GrowWNY.org can help you discover new places to enjoy your favorite outdoor activities. On Saturday, June 21, 2012, GrowWNY unveiled its Go Outside Map, which features 56 regional hot spots for some of the most popular outdoor activities in Western New York. This paper map is an adaptation of the virtual, interactive map that features nearly 200 locations and can be found at GrowWNY.org.
Honorable Byron Brown, Mayor of Buffalo, and the Honorable Paul Dyster, Mayor of Niagara Falls, joined the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo’s President and CEO, Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker, at the Spirit of Buffalo on the waterfront for the launch event. The Spirit of Buffalo is one of the 56 locations featured on the paper map. The maps will be free to the public and will be available at Buffalo area Wegmans stores in August. In addition, you’ll find the maps at county visitor’s centers, outdoor stores, and more.

GrowWNY’s mission is to be a resource for the WNY community to learn more about how to enjoy and preserve our region’s natural environment. We encourage residents to eat, live, work and play greener.
Speaking of eating greener, Mayor Brown and Mayor Dyster demonstrated the use of alternative energy to make smoothies with local fruits and juices on Grow’s Fender Blender, a bike powered blender. The mayors pedaled their way to a delicious concoction of blueberries and peaches from Niagara and Allegany Counties.
