A Second Look at Second Saturday

FoundryI’ve been putting the Second Saturday at the Foundry events on the GrowWNY Community Calendar for a while now, and each event entry built up my anticipation for finally attending the event. Well, this past weekend, I went to my first Second Saturday, and it did not disappoint! The Foundry’s website describes how the building is a multifaceted community center that comes to life with local flair. On the second Saturday of every month, the Foundry is full of local artisans, vendors, artists and more!

On this particular Saturday in January, I got to peruse through tables of homemade jewelry, fossil crafts, knitted hats, mittens and more. There were also seed samples, wood work, luminaries made from old sheet music, and picture frames made from old pieces of molding and siding. Glancing over all the tables gave me some great Green It Yourself project ideas, but it also helped me to build up my list of local vendors to buy from.

I took a bunch of pictures while at the Foundry, but none of them do it justice. This is definitely a place you should go and experience for yourself. And you’ll be rewarded with lots of local treats!
