To support the work of the Working Groups, the Western New York Environmental Alliance (WNYEA) created three Process Groups:
- Education & Outreach
- Issues & Advocacy
- Organizational Capacity
The Process Groups are chaired by members of the WNYEA Board of Directors. These groups support the Working Groups by providing consultation and advice on advocacy items, campaign efforts, member recruitment and more. Read each group’s specific description below. If you are interested in getting involved in a process group, sign up for its listserv or check the calendar for an upcoming meeting.
Education & Outreach
The Education & Outreach Process Group is focused on promoting WNYEA activities, environmental literacy, and environmental education. This group acts as an adviser for working group campaigns, giving suggestions on how to collect, analyze, present and disseminate information.
Issues & Advocacy
The WNYEA’s Advocacy Policy relies heavily on the support, advice and counsel of the Issues & Advocacy Process Group. This group helps Working Groups to develop advocacy items, from comments and statements to campaigns and planks. The group has put together the following documents to help with the WNYEA Advocacy Process:
- Advocacy and the Western New York Environmental Alliance: A Flow Chart
- INFOGRAPHIC: Rapid Engagement
- INFOGRAPHIC: Annual Platform
- Urgent Request Form
- Annual Action Agenda Proposal Form
This group is concerned with the capacity of WNYEA member organizations, the Working Groups, and the WNYEA as a whole. This group strives to be a resource for expanding the capacity of the WNYEA and attracting resources and commitment to fulfill its annual Action Agenda.
