Organization Name:  Buffalo Local Initiatives Support Corporation

Organization Mission: We build the bridge between law enforcement and community groups so that we can make streets safer. We fuel business developmentnew housing and education efforts that give families access to more jobs and better schools. We tap innovative national initiatives to rebuild whole neighborhoods, and then assemble local partners and private dollars to make those plans our new reality.

Organization Vision: We are coach, counselor, investor, neighborhood matchmaker and tireless advocate for the organizations we work with and the communities we serve.

Key Achievements:

  • By providing $7 million in operating support and planning grants to our partners
  • By providing more than $62 million in loans and equity investments for their projects
  • By adding $17.7 million in jobs creating New Market Tax Credits for economic development
  • By providing $900,000 for the development of seven community recreational fields and facilities
  • By providing $100,000 in predevelopment support for a new charter school.
