Meet the member organizations of the Western New York Environmental Alliance! 

Organization Name: Friends of Times Beach Nature Preserve

Mission: Our mission is to advocate for and share news and information about Times Beach, bird conservation, pollinator conservation, biodiversity, the Buffalo Waterfront and the Niagara River, and to Promote an appreciation and knowledge about our local urban ecology and shoreline wilderness.

Vision: To protect and advocate for the Nature Preserve, adjacent property including land and water and to promote educational opportunities for residents, students and other interested parties.

Key Achievements:

  • Advocacy of the Outer Harbor, Regional and local shoreline ecology, the Buffalo and Niagara River, and the Niagara River Globally Significant Important Bird Area.
  • Collaboration with Erie County and the US Army Corps of Engineers on a $5 million ongoing invasive species removal and native species restoration project.
  • Advocacy for a Niagara River RAMSAR designation
  • Successfully advocate for the WNYEA to pass 2 Advocacy Agenda items for 2015- (1) Avian Conservation strategies and (2) Campaign for a Community based nomination for a NOAA administered Marine Sanctuary.
