UPDATE: Allegany State Park & National Fuel
Good news! The Office of Parks and Historic Preservation has extended National Fuel’s gas storage lease on 9000 acres in the heart of Allegany State Park for only one year instead of the 50 National Fuel asked for.
That 9000 acres includes 350 year old growth hemlock and puts 14 clear-cuts and a maze of roads into Allegany’s regenerating 150 year old forest.
Now we have a chance to make ourselves heard on the issue of who owns Allegany and its forests.
