Re-Tree WNY
Meet the member organizations of the Western New York Environmental Alliance!
Organization Name: Re-Tree WNY
Mission: Our mission is the same as our name, Re-Tree WNY. We are working on this project with the goal to replace the approximately 30,000 trees in Western New York that were damaged or destroyed in the October 12-13, 2006 snowstorm. We are also starting a citizen stewardship program wherein volunteers will be taking care of the juvenile trees we’ve planted since 2007.
Vision: Re-forest every public area that was destroyed by the snowstorm and steward the trees that we have planted since the storm.
Key Achievements:
- Re-Tree has planted 26,565 street and park trees since it started nearly eight years ago, getting the funds through individual donations, corporations, and foundations.
- 174 trees were planted with five different organizations on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
