Warm Welcome, Antonina!
The WNY Environmental Alliance (WNYEA) is very pleased to announce our new Executive Director, Antonina Simeti. Antonina brings with her immense leadership, organizational, and administrative skills that will be leveraged to position the environment as a key factor in decision-making in the region. She looks forward to working to meet WNYEA’s strategic goals of building capacity, inclusion, and deeper support for the movement building, collective campaigns and advocacy work of WNYEA and its members.
Simeti’s professional experience includes non-profit management, design strategy, public policy research, user research and environmental impact analysis. She has worked closely with a range of stakeholders including government agencies, elected officials, community-based organizations, business leaders, cultural institutions, designers and educators. Simeti holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University and a master’s degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Antonina simultaneously serves as the Executive Director of Groundwork Buffalo – a member organization of the WNYEA – bringing the perspective of a local NGO working to engage residents, especially youth, in environmental conservation, and restoration efforts in Buffalo and beyond. She is also the co-founder of Timbre Consultants, a team of urban planners that have worked on climate justice, food supply planning, and healthy communities initiatives in Buffalo.
WNYEA is an independent, member-run organization with a mission to mobilize change through the collective action and collaboration of more than 100 member organizations, affiliates and supporters. WNYEA thanks the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and Overbrook Foundation for their continued ongoing support for the growth and development of this coalition.
