ATTENTION K-12 TEACHERS Buffalo Recycling Alliances Works to Promote Recycle-Bowl

BY KYLA JAQUISH, BUFFALO RECYCLING ALLIANCE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Keep America Beautiful’s national recycling competition, Recycle-Bowl, BRAloloalready has two schools in Buffalo registered and excited to start collecting recyclables. There has never been a school in Buffalo to register until this year.

So far, there are two schools registered for this fall’s Recycle-Bowl; Community Charter School and Houghton Academy.  All K-12 public, private, and charter schools are eligible to register.  The competition runs from October 21st to November 15th, ending on America Recycles Day. So don’t wait, get your students excited to reduce waste, save energy, and help the planet, and register your school! Registration is open until October 15th – so there is still time for more schools to join the fun!

Thinking that weighing a bunch of recyclable material may be a problem? Worry no more!  There is a great resource for turning volume of recyclables into weight – and can be great math exercises for the students.

Worried that your school doesn’t have a comprehensive recycling program? Don’t!  The Buffalo Recycling Alliance and City of Buffalo have teamed up to make registering and starting a recycling program easy!

For more information about Recycle-Bowl, visit www.Recycle-Bowl.org or contact the Buffalo Recycling Alliance Program Director – Kyla Jaquish at Kyla@PPGBuffalo.org or 852-4191 ext 115. But hurry, registration ends on October 15th!
